Why Does The Heat And The Sun Feel Like Fire!?
A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a nice sitting are out back but even in the shade I feel like I could catch on fire at any moment and I am pretty sure I am not a vampire!

That's normal for some of us I guess. For years, I had butterfly rashes on my face which get aggravated by sun exposure.

I don't "feel" it but I can burn like crazy in a very short time... Makes a person crazy.. I love the outdoors :)

I understand exactly what you are talking about. I always say I must be a vampire too! The sun is just NOT my friend. Hats, sunscreen, light jackets are what ive been told to keep on hand, but truthfully, for me that's just more crap to carry everywhere that doesn't work very well. My sun sensitivity - which affects my skin and eyes- had gotten so bad, I went to the eye doctor and that's when I found out I had glaucoma. I have to wear sunglasses in church because the lights give me a headache. I use a betamethasone dipropionate ointment for my skin.. It works pretty well- mention this for your skin to your doctor.

I feel the same way. I don't get the rash everyone else gets but i will break out in hives. I also get seborrheic dermatitis in the same ares thebmapar rash would be. If the sun touches my skin it hurts like someone is holding it against an electric stove. Other than ecessive redness and swelling you wouldn't know looking at me. It is frustrating because it is everyday, sunscreen or no sunscreen.
