Pregnancy And Plaquenil

Pregnancy And Plaquenil

I just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant. I currently take 200mg Plaquenil twice a day. This makes me so nervous!!! My ob/gyn deferred me to my pcp, stating it was based on need. I have appointment with pcp on Tuesday. I feel guilty taking it, not knowing what it could do to baby. Has anyone taken it while pregnant???

I've read good information on this topic at drugs.com. Like with all things lupus, I'm afraid you're going to have a tough time get definitive answers to your pregnancy and Plaquenil questions from your doc. Congratulations on the baby and I hope all goes well.

The neonatal specialist said the risk is low that a flare is more dangerous you should see a specialist they said I would have to be closely monitored due to being a carrier of neonatal lupus but I could continue all my meds their benefits outweighs the risk most warnings are out dated and they don' rreflect lupus dosages

I took plaquenil throughout my pregnancies and have beautiful healthy girls. I also took prednisone, naprosyn and neurontin while pregnant. I saw a highrisk OB and everything was fine.

my PCP told me to wean off since more than likely I won't need it during pregnancy. so far so good! I just worry because my old rheumatologist had told me in the past that sometimes when plaquenil is stopped then restarted it doesn't work as well.
