I have some issues with my teeth i have had a lot of problems with my esophagus.. my lupus has made it to were it does not want to work so I have a lot of reflux and it has ate the enamel off my teeth but I cant afford to pay for the work that they are wanting to do ... My question is is there help out here for that .. ? I live in Georgia I know the Health well foundation helps with the Benlista but I can't seem to find help with dental issues ..
I was talking with my nephew who is in dental school. Check and see if there is a dental school in your area. They will do free work and the students will often pick you up and drop you off. They have a list of people they keep who need work done, they are always looking for reliable people. If you are scheduled for a dental procedure and you do not show up, the student fails, no make up dates or exams. That is why the student will pick you up. It is worth a shot to check your local dental school/
I had terrible arthritis in my jaw. I eventually turned to the chairman of the UH dental school in Cleveland,, Ohio. This was 1998. I couldn't open my mouth. I was basically on a liquid diet. One of the doctors I met with was both a TMJ dental specialist and a plastic surgeon. He took several X-Ray and CT scans. He found the joint was disintegrated and past repair.
In November of 1999 I under went bilateral TMJ replacement surgery. A new technique and I was first in Ohio. It wasn't easy. Insurance fits. Waiting for the prosthesis to be made.
Here we are 20+ years later. (this surgery is rarely performed and what they did then is basically the same as what they do now)
The result were amazing. I've had over 50 joint surgeries, and, to date, one of the most successful
I've searched til I'm crazy. I've lost 10 of my beautiful teeth to date. I can find no kind of help. Worked for 42 years.... Sure makes me wonder. I'm angry, sad and so embarrassed.

I have that same question. Since Sjogren's my teeth are going down so fast is Ridiculous. I feel like it should be covered so much better when it is clearly medical. I too am in Ga. We have Cigna.
