I am starting Rituxin infusions in the next 2 weeks. Has anyone ever tried it? Did it help the Lupus? Any side effects?
Yes I have taken it. It stopped my lupus in its tracks. I have been in an inactive state for almost 3 years now.
Worked great for me as well. I was in remission for 2+ years and was able to have my first baby. I don't really remember experiencing any side effects.
Holy cow! That's awesome!!! I hope I have the same results. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
@A MyLupusTeam Member rituxin is a type of medicine that is given intravenously. They use it for chemo patients & RA. They have good results with Lupus patients as well. I have been on plaqunil since my diagnosis in 2001.
That is so awesome that Rituxin helped 2 people!! Thanks for sharing - that gives us hope!!
My platelets got so low three years ago that the machine couldn't get a reading. The tech put my blood on a slide and put it under a microscope and estimated that it was around 11K. I took four Rituxin treatments and the platelets eventually came up to 150K. I ended up having serious colon issues about two weeks after my final treatment and that was extremely painful. The platelets have stayed up for the last three years but started sliding down about a month ago and I'm back to 30K. I start another round of treatments in two weeks. It worked for me but the side effects were a bear. During the treatments, I lost a lot of hair and suffered stomach issues and major fatigue.
