Post Operative Depression

Post Operative Depression

I have had several surgeries due to lupus. My most recent surgery was this past Friday. This morning I woke up feeling pretty depressed. I have not experienced this with any other surgery and I'm not sure if it's because I am coming off the pain medication. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to help?

Actually, my last surgery was the same way. My husband was amazing and just let me cry it out a couple of times. I'm not sure why I was like that. I've never been like that myself.

Praying for comfort and joy for you, you look so joyful and happy in your picture, praying that those sunny days return. Also, it's winter. We get less sun, and that can affect your moods. There are lamps they have that use daylight emitting bulbs that can help with Winter depression. You sit under them for a few hours a day. Look for one of them, it will help. This too shall pass, be encouraged!

It seems like Lupus just doesn't give up and continues to cause problems. If your like me just talking about it helps. I'm going to have my aortic valve replaced soon and I'm not looking forward to it. Hang in there and remember we are all in the same boat.
