Is Anyone On Lexapro?
A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am starting on Lexapro today and I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with it. I was always the cheerful morning person with an annoyingly positive attitude so this is hope for me to feel "normal" again.

Kathyann, please be very careful while taking that drug or ask ur Dr if u can be put on a different anxiety, depression drug. I'm assuming that's what ur taking it for? My Dr wanted to put me on that, but I said no cause my boyfriend of 7yrs committed suicide on that drug. He was only taking it for a yr, but the side effect did its job. I wouldn't want anything like that to happen to u or anyone on here. It's been 1yr and 1/2 now, but it still feels like yesterday I lost him. Please be careful while taking that drug.

Yes I am on Lexapro and I find it very helpful. What strength are you on? If it's not helping you it could be that you may need a little bit more. You can just go up by half a tablet for instance if you're taking 5 milligrams maybe try 10. But also keep in mind that they say it can take 6 to 8 weeks before you notice any difference so give it a little bit of time. Mine actually seemed to kick in pretty quickly and I I'm on 5 milligrams. I tried to 10 milligrams but it seemed too strong for me so I went down to half a tablet. Also keep in mind that maybe Lexapro isn't the one for you and that you may need to try something different but I would at least give it a chance and give it at least 8 weeks to see how you're feeling. Good luck to you. Don't be afraid to talk to your doctor about it and get their advice

I was on it for years for depression before having my daughter. I would say it helped, but I did gain weight, and felt like all my feelings were "numbed." I hope it works for you. I will tell you that getting off of it was very hard physically. Best wishes.

That almost happened when they put me on symbalta. I got so very very depressed that I came close to ending it all.

Hi, I have taken Lexapro a long time ago. I had no side affects from it at all. It did what it was suppose to do for me at the time. Now unfortunately I am on something stronger. I hope this helps. 😇💫Zoey
