Just a question....How do I tell a fellow lupie friend to stay strong, thats shes going to be ok.....shes in hosp. Diagnosed with agressive cancer today. Shes weak and cannot stand on her own. Her body is so tired and shes been in bed for 7 weeks. Nothing I will say can take the pain away.... I feel so so ....

Well telling her she's going to be ok, in my opinion is retarded. My best friend in the UNIVERSE died two years ago of cancer. I never played the "it's going to be ok" card. I was real. I told her it sucked, I gave her massages, I read her funny books, I sneaked her dog in. I broke all the rules and then some. I didn't try to lift her up with false hope. I lifted her up with vodka and chocolate and strippers.

My BFF was whacked out on drugs and said "All I ever wanted was a baby goat. Well, I couldn't sneak a goat into hospice so I did the next best thing...I ordered every stuff animal goat I could find from amazon.com and we had a goat party watching all those crazy jumping goats on YouTube. I tell you what drove me insane. Her family coming in and watching "Pickers" that TV show ENDLESSLY while she was trying to die. Lord help me I wanted to slap them across the parking lot. She and I loved music so I bought us ear buds and we laid in her hospice bed and listened to music. Like @A MyLupusTeam Member said, you know her, you know what will make her laugh, and hey, let her have a all out fit if she wants. My BFF had a LOT of those and I threw stuff across the room with her! I had anger at that damn cancer too! We had food fights with those hard as the hubs of hell hospice rolls and threw all those UN-attractive chemo turbans that are suppose to make you feel "pretty" at all the "happy" nurses that were irritating us (THEY loved it!) ... I used to sneak into the volunteer office and "borrow" the fake boobs and pile them in and surprise her! Look, have fun, cry, dance, and above all ENJOY what you have...we could all be hit by a bus tomorrow!

@A MyLupusTeam Member you are an awesome friend. My heart goes out to you for the loss of your friend. You were fortunate to find each other in this world. I'm sure it was a profound loss. Watching goat videos with you and laughing sounds wonderful. Hugs to you dear one.
