Does anyone else have a problem, with nails splitting vertically?
I have acrylic nails that help mine from peeling. I can't wear the gel as it irritates my skin.
Yes ,mine split, down the ways,it's so annoying
Yes. This nail splitting vertically started a few years ago only on my right pinky nail. I can't grow that nail too long, I need to keep it shorter. I blame any weird thing that happenes to my body on lupus or now I blame menopause too. :-/
Yup! My nails split both ways actually and have been thinning. When I was in the hospital for a flare up, I was given a large dose of IV steroids regularly each day and by day 3 my nails looked so weird and shiny. I asked the hospital rheumy and he said he's not so sure what causes it but nail damage is usually reflective of a flare/disease activity that happened months ago since it takes time for them to grow out we just don't see it right away. My primary rheumy said the same thing.
I've had Gel Nails for 10 years. Lupus for 3 years. When I have a fill usually every 5 - 6 weeks my nails are checked carefully. No problems noted so far. The Gel Nails seem to serve as a protectant. My mom with Rheumatoid Arthritis also has Gel nails and she enjoys them as well.
