About darth piercings for migraines , wouldn't that last longer then acupuncture? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you Suprena
Hi @A MyLupusTeam Member I've been using acupuncture for roughly 7+ years now for severe chronic spinal pain and the many symptoms of lupus. I originally went to acupuncture for the pain as well as taking some pretty strong pain meds - I just didn't want to have to keep increasing the level of meds. In that capacity it has been brilliant. My acupuncturist also "worked" on my immune system and for that period of time until this year I haven't had to resort to lupus meds. This year however it has been a downhill ride for me (I have had a lot more stress in my life) and for the first time I am seriously contemplating combining the acupuncture with meds. I had acupuncture once a week and sometime twice depending on my symptomatology. This worked for me. I am not saying it will work for everyone but you know -----it can't hurt. As far as explaining how it works I think you are better just looking it up on line. During my treatment I found myself giving up alcohol (I really loved my wine) but I just "lost my taste for it". It wasn't deliberate nor had I discussed it with my acupuncturist and even though he felt I was better of without it, I didn't really agree. It turned out that he had been working on my liver and he attributed that to my not wanting alcohol any more. Interesting eh. So it wasn't even a "mind over matter" or "the power of thought" because it just wasn't something I had even contemplated. I am quite happy to have stopped drinking alcohol - I didn't put any effort into it - I don't miss it and I am certain my liver is a lot better off without it . I personally would recommend acupuncture. It worked for me and it may or you. Just make sure you have a GOOD acupuncturist - do your research. Keep us in the loop - I would love to have feedback even if you decide not to go that way. Just remember it takes 3+ visits before you usually notice anything. Take care.
My daughter has had it done . She knew a person that did piercings that she trusted and asked about it. They went to through the risks and that it helps some and not others. She went into it to see if it helped great if not nothing but ear pain lost. You need to do meticulous care as it is healing. I asked a few months ago about it, she said she went from 2-3 a week to 1 or 2 a month.
