My doctor has started a plan for me to go med free soon and I was just wondering if anyone else has had this and how you found it coming off all medication?
I have yet to take any medications aside from over the counter naproxen for my lupus because I have yet to be in a stable location with stable medical insurance BUT I highly do not recommend it just because I feel so helpless all the time BUT at the same time I gain some satisfaction out of knowing I'm still okay without meds.
@A MyLupusTeam Member yeah I definitely think my healthier lifestyle has helped I feel a lot less tired and more active most days :)
Well I am now over 6 months with no meds 👏🏻 Was on Methotrexate, hydroxychloride, folic acid and Naproxen - stopped the meth and folic, then hydro and then naproxen - still got to have blood tests every 6 months but feel great and no withdrawal symptoms (thankfully) every now and then a wee flare up but sure can cope with these sperodically but looking good
Thank you all for sharing your experiences :) this doctor has been with me since I first started getting symptoms and diagnosed me within 6 months and has successfully tapered me off prednisone already so I trust his judgement:) I'll be coming off azathioprine first and then after an adjustment period I will come off my hydroxychloroquine which is the one I'm nervous about but he thinks I can handle it and it will be so nice to be free of meds. This was always his hope from me since an early stage :)
