I’m driving myself nuts the rheumatologist says I have SLE only but I can’t help but wonder if something’s missing ?? Do I have schleroderma? It’s scary because most people as they age use collagen and retinal and vit c to look younger and feel younger but with schleroderma you produce too much collagen so this may be dangerous and nobody talks about this stuff . I do have reynauds disease which is charastic of sle and schleroderma. I have the charastic schleroderma indentation… read more
Finding a rheumatolgist like that is like finding a diamond in a jar of marbles here in Colorado. The closest ones as it is r rated a 2 and are a two hour drive away, plus, since my daughter was diagnosed two years ahead of me, l already have a pretty good idea of their usefulness. Have pretty much given up hope on finding a great doctor who is knowledgeable about this desease anytime soon. Hopefully we'll be relocating to Vegas soon, and according to Google u can't throw a rock without hitting a rheumatologist in Nevada.
So sorry Lena. Wish I could be of more help. This desease is the Devil!
Have to agree with you Lena. Since being diagnosed my med basket keeps getting Fuller and I keep feeling worse. But for now I'll just have to keep taking the pills and pushing on.
@A MyLupusTeam Member I understand that doctors can make so many wrongs since they are only humanbeings. I too can have difficult time trusting doctors sometimes. But they are really knowledgeable in illnesses etc. and especially rheumatologist. I seriously don’t know where I would have been without my rheumatologist right now. She’s helped understand so much about exactly how my SLE affects my body, prescribed all the right medicins and sent me to all the right investigations to find further illnesses. I truly respect her knowledge as a doctor.
Yeah just like a doctor told me ”ppl that already have autoimmune illness are at greater risk for more autoimmune diseases than the general ppl”.
@A MyLupusTeam Member don’t be too worried and just try to get a 2:nd, 3:d, 4:th etc. opinion from other doctors. Even if many doctors might get things wrong sometimes and ”stumbling in the dark”. Because they absolutly don’t know what direction to go sometimes. However doctors are still very knowledgeable ppl. And most of them could probably succesfully rule out or confirm any suspected illness. Once they are guided to the illuminated path and have a clear direction of what actual illness to investigate.
