Does anyone have trouble swallowing?

I have been getting choked on my medication. My food feels like it gets stuck in my throat. Some days I stick to liquids for fear of choking. Can’t see a GI until late July. This disease is so baffling I find myself blaming it for every ache and pain I have.
Wishing everyone a great pain-free day!

Emily Foster/ Hello there! I'm Jody Becker and would like to answer your question about swallowing .I will share my story. Back in 2013 I had difficulty swallowing and it was going on for a long long time I had just dealt with it didn't think it was much of a big deal but then it got really bad where everything was getting stuck in my throat like cakes and Breads and food in my medication at night time at the end of the day my throat and stuff would seem to have swollen I ended up being sent to an ears nose and throat doctor and I ended up having my esophagus stretched because I couldn't swallow my food at times it would hurt really bad and other times my medicine will get caught down in my throat and in my esophagus and wouldn't go down and then would dissolve in my throat and then I would be burping and feeling sick to my stomach because my medicine didn't go down into my stomach. Just recently probably I'll say within the last few months I had to go back in and have my esophagus stretched again so as of now I'm swallowing okay I haven't had any problems I'm just hoping I don't have to have it again. It wasn't a bad experience it's just I have heard quote on quote that you don't really want to have yourself against stretch too much for what reasons I don't ever remember hearing what the reason was for but I want know what else I will be able to do if I couldn't have it stretched cuz then I won't be able to swallow and well my opinion would be go see and ears nose and throat doctor because they'll be able to tell you. This could be your issue. Ever remember being told what it was about

I have that also. I had tests done - they gave me a variety of food/drinks and watched through an X-Ray like machine to see how fast or slowly it went down. There were no eye opening results. There was no obstruction, no tumors. The nurse told me afterwards she has the same difficulty swallowing and she cuts her meal into smaller portions, chews thoroughly and if you still feel it get stuck - don't try to wash it down with water as my & her throat closes and even the fluid won't go down. I usually have to make myself cough it free or make myself sick to free it. It's a little scary.

Yes,this has happened to me to. I had tht test done to and it went right down doctor decided to go and do a scope which he then was able to see the narrowing of the esophagus and stretched it. It does help to have it done.my advice is to go and see and ears nose and throat doctor explain the issue and hopefully you have a good ears nose and throat doctor and he possibly be able to stretch your esophagus so you can swallow correctly without choking. I hope everything goes well for everyone.
