Liver enzymes anyone?

Liver enzymes anyone?

New territory...my ALT and AST are both elevated but ALT is higher than AST.
They are retesting in two weeks.
Any thoughts on what causes that to occur?

@anotherday
Thx. It was my rheumy who found the issues. She said my methotrexate dosages are not high enough to cause it. And I am allergic to prednisone so I am not on it. I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago because it stopped working. :(

I had elevated AST and ALT + other liver markers in the red in 2015. This was before my Lupus diagnosis... I was advised to see a liver specialist, which I didn’t do... probably because I was too tired to deal with it. What’s new ;)

The next year my labs were all back to normal, liver makers a bit on the high side, but no longer elevated. Those couple of years were no different — no new meds or lifestyle changes. Wasn’t drinking at all during either test, hardly a drinker.

I told my rheumatologist about this episode — he said it’s possible that it was Lupus attacking my liver, but that it’s “uncommon.” Otherwise, he said (I believe he said) it could of been autoimmune hepatitis?

Looking back, I can remember how yellow my eyes were and feeling oh so tired.
