Steriods aren't helping

Steriods aren't helping

Steriods aren't helping my symptoms so I called the Rheumatologist and because I am not improving they are reffering me to a neurologist and he doesn't think its lupus now because the steriod should help??? What the...? Im so frustrated I just want answers and a doctor to listen. My ANA is the only thing positive and I have a list of symptoms that cannot be explained.

Hang in there. The prednisone usually worked for me but the last months it seemed to do nothing so my rheumatologist put me on methylprednisolone, a different and stronger steroid. Maybe that’s an option that’ll work for you

Keep trying!!! My high doses of prednisone took the inflammation way down, then when doctor lowered it the inflammation was off the charts, and plaquenil doesn't work for me alone!!! I swear by the prednisone, despite the side effects!! Maybe a new Rheumatologists will help!!! I found that they all diagnose different or incorrect!!! My first Dr. Diagnosed wrong, took 10 yrs to get a good dr. Her words" had they diagnosed you right the first times, you wouldnt have such joint damage."

Sending you hugs!! I’m waiting to see a different rheumatologist and, until then, have been taking plain old allergy medication (cetrizine I think). I’m not sure why but it seems to help. And a vitamin D3 capsule. Maybe give those a try since they’re both OTC?

Steroids don’t always help. For me it is back and forth with them. And my last two ana’s have been negative. But my lupus has become worse with longer flares.
