Celebrex

Celebrex

My doctor gave me celebrex for knee pain while i didnt have lupus.few weeks after my joints started to get stiff and after blood test i found out i got diognised with lupus.
My question is,can someone pick up lupus by taking lupus medication?

I had a lot of leg and knee pain throughout high school but it stopped. I would get told it was because I was growing or probably needed vitamins. I didn't get diagnosed until after my first year of college. My leg pain could have just been an early sign for lupus just like how your knee pain could have been as well

I do not want to give you false hope but Oxford University did have enough to do a research study to find if Celebrex aka Celecoxib cause Drug Induced Lupus.

Not an easy read but to sum it up the patient took celebrex and to weeks later started showing symptoms of lupus such as molar rash and joint stiffness and pain. All blood test normal but did develop a low positive ANA. Good news is a complete return to standing health and lupus free after medication was stopped.
