Does stress and diet play a part in lupus , what are the effects of stress? (good and bad), and the effects of dieting?(good and bad) any suggestions or advice?
A huge part in lupus.. stress is like the sun a tremendous trigger for a flare up. Your diet is super important garlic and potatoes and tomatoes and red meat I found have hurt me within minutes of eating them.
My Rheumatologist suggested the Mediterranean diet and smaller meal portions lots of water and no sugars and I cook with coconut oil. I feel lighter I have flares but not as lengthy as they once were. I hope this helps you 💜
Definitely no good part to the stress. That trigger is the worst one ever for me, with food and dieting u can go into some sort of a remission when u eat all of the right foods and figure out what foods trigger a flare such as rashes or inflammation, swelling and pain. Once u can get your diet balanced to fit your body the benefits are great. U feel healthy and experience less flares and feel more energetic, well thats my story anyway lol but stress is always bad for me, never good. It can cause a giant flare at one time that can land me in the er at times so i try my best to avoid any stress that i can avoid
Stress and weather conditions are our kryptonite. Any stress can flare is up severely. Barometric pressure and had weather. Rain is painful.
Stress can be a trigger for some of our lupus flares. Find a coping mechanism that works for you. Perhaps music, meditation, prayer, talking to someone or maybe venting here with us.
Here is an article from the Lupus Foundation about how some foods might affect us.
