Masks And Flares

Masks And Flares

Any nurses out there with Lupus? I am not sure if it is my imagination, but I feel that my mask use at work makes me flare. I took 2 weeks off of work, and was starting to feel pretty good. Went back to work, and of course geared up with mask and shield as I work in ICU. I now feel like crap....again.I feel like it may be a reaction to the masks that is causing me to flare?

I personally think it's stress, not the mask. Dealing with covid threat on a daily basis and in the first line is pretty stressful in my opinion. Hope you get better. Hugs

Could you be allergic to something in the mask? Or do you have issues with your lungs? I do and I find that I can wear one mask ok but when I try to layer a second cloth one like doctors advise it's just too much for me. I have difficulty breathing.

I'd say it was the two weeks off that resulted in you feeling better and going *back to work* and *working* that's resulted in making you feel lousy. Nursing is a difficult job that's physically and mentally draining not to mention having to work under staffed during a pandemic. Hope you're able to get what I'm sure is some much needed rest.
P.S. I'm a retired R.N. (ICU) and I understand completely!
