QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW THEY TRULY DIAGNOSE LUPUS.

I recently had a positive ANA panel. I have swollen lymph nodes in the neck that are not cancer, I have extreme fatigue, really bad joint pain, redness across my cheeks, and chest, my CBC had high red cell count and high white count. My Dr thinks it could be lupus because it does run in my family.. my questions are what other test do they do to get a diagnosis....

There are a number of tests run. My doctor ran a test to see if I had double stranded dna and if it was speckled. Understanding these tests can be a challenge but I’m happy that the ANA test had my doctor look further.

I think with me they looked at the clotting panel and other autoimmune antibodies. They used to work on 5 criteria from 11 : including physical and blood findings. They will check your kidney and liver function and probably perform a biopsy on any skin lesions. Try not to worry l am sure family history is extremely relevant too actually.
Take care
