Anyone did a cat scan for the head and ear? My doctor order due to the pulsating I can hear through my ear. Tinnitus not sure if that causing it. She doing Iodine too? not sure what is that? Have a blessed day everyone and pain free day.. Hugs
There is a very large artery (internal carotid) that runs next the ear. In some people, there is a thinner connective tissue septum separating the vessel from the inner ear, and the vessel pulsates into the inner ear. The presence of the artery is NORMAL. Do not let them take a biopsy of a mass pushing into inner ear. We had a case at the med school hospital (presented at Morbidity & Mortality meeting) where I taught , where that happened, biopsy of the vessel. The patient did not survive the procedure.
Dear Hanna2020, nothing to be worried about, it is normal. Nothing to be anxious about.
CT scan piece of cake. They will take pictures first round, then they will insert the I,v, needle and give you the dye, which is contrast. Then take more pictures. Done in 10/15 minutes. After the dye gets injected, your body might feel warm, and you might feel like you have to pee, lasts 10 seconds,it’s nothing. You will do fine
Hanna2020, it is okay to have CT scan. Pulsating in ear is perfectly normal, and usually occurs when head is lower than heart, stress, or increased blood pressure (higher systolic pressure than your normal). You may be able to use it as a self-diagnostic tool for stress, increased blood pressure.
