Dry Skin Question

Dry Skin Question

Hi everyone. I was wondering about skin and hair care. My skin is extremely dry and my hair is so brittle. It just came on suddenly. Is there any skin/ hair care that you use to help this? I haven't had my first "real " appointment with a RA doctor yet

The body takes some time to get used to plaquenil. So until then you will have some reactions. But if it was already dry before the plaquenil, then it's because of a flare up, I guess. Give it some time. Try to wash your skin with gentle gel, if possible with urea. That's what I do. Avoid strong and antibacterial soaps.
For the hair I just waited because I couldn't use any conditioner on my scalp, as they give me rash.

when washing your hair use warm to cool water -not hot this helps the skin on your head along with your hair - don't rub your hair dry - pat it dry - there are hair oils you can get at your hair salon that will help with the dry hair. I use an aloe based cream on my skin but in the shower I use a homemade scrub made with coconut oil- epsom salt and mint leaves- i use th-is on my feet and my legs. You can find one of these on line.. Good luck and hope everything get better... One day at a time🥰

Be careful as Plaquenil has made my skin symptoms worse but my joints better and I've been on it for year's. You may ask your doctor if you can cut the dose in half to see if the symptoms get better. If it's not helping consider not taking it.
