I have had blood and protein in my urine they just kept giving me antibiotics cause they thought it was an infection now 2 years I'm trying to see a urology to find out what is causing it I can't believe 2 years no answers I'm having second thoughts of my rheumatologist what scares me is that I feel they just like to pass out meds make that money
I agree with Beverly, look into seeing a Nephrologist. It is one of the ways to rule out any kidney diseases. When I was 9 I had Kidney failure in surgery. they were trying to fix one of my passages. They found out, I have only one functioning kidney its the size of one and half. the other is so small it doesnt function. Im not saying thats you. but yes please get your kidneys checked. another thing is protein in the urine might be diabetes. so there are so many things to be ruled out. just keep pushing to find out whats going on. Im praying for you that you do find out whats going on. so you will know and have peace of mind. and then be on the road for a full healing.. 😉
It might be time to look for a new rheumatologist who addresses your needs and concerns.
Hi Stephanie,
A pleasant Monday to you although you may not see much pleasantries when you are being affected with this horrible disease.
But ,if you just step back a minute and take an inventory of your life right now you will see how blessed you are .
I am not a doctor ,just a RN with several years of experience in med/surgery.
It sounds to be as though your Rheumatologist should have referred you to see a nephrologist who can assess your kidney functions.to ensure that protein and blood in the urine are not due to kidney damage a condition that.is consistent with Lupus. It's referred to as Nephrotic syndrome.
I AM NOT SAYING THAT ID WHAT IT IS. I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I AM JUST SAYING YOU SHOULD HAVE THAT RULED OUT.
Good luck.
If you have blood in your urine go to the emergency room. That happened to me some time ago, I was losing platelets. Please go now!!! If your Dr is not a team player get another one but for right now you need to address this important issue!!!
