Hashimotos And Lupus

Hashimotos And Lupus

Well, the heading says it all. ..I just got blood test results and its hypothyroidism, possibly Hashimotos disease. Anyone living with the two diseases? Whats been your experience?

Hashimoto’s disease is just the name of what is causing your hypothroidism. Your body is killing the cells of your thyroid gland. I have had this since i was about 42. Just take a pill each day and get tested every year. Once diagnosed it takes a few months to get the medication adjusted so that it is the correct amount for you. I have been on the same dose for over 30 years. Even now when i get tested my thyroid antibodies are still high. In my humble opinion, it is the least troublesome of all the autoimmune diseases. Hope this helps.

I have both and I never know which one of them is causing my pains. I think they take turns. Lol So I’m never pain free it seems.

Me too. I've been hypothyroid for 32 years & I've had lupus for 8 years. Sometimes the lupus has complicated things, but after a few years my regular doc finally got my thyroid back under control. I struggle with weight gain really bad, especially since my lupus diagnosis, but hey, could be menopause. Peace, katcove
