Headaches

Are headaches a symptom of Lupus?

Headaches are one of the main symptoms of CNS lupus (central nervous system) I unfortunately have that along with SLE. Finally got relief from them with benlysta injections...took being on them for 5 months. Hope this helps.

Lupus can cause headaches for sure, but not usually migraines. Some of us have both though!

How can you know if the migraines are from genetic predisposition or due to lupus, @A MyLupusTeam Member?

Yes they can be. My migraines are why doctors started looking into autoimmune problems. You can have genetic predisposition to migraines (runs in families) that lupus problems make worst or it could be the cause of the headaches in the first place.

I do not know for sure, but my daughter has severe headaches and has recently been diagnosed with Lupus. Her headaches are sometimes debilitating, other times, they are mild enough for her to function.
