Hanicapped Placatds

How many people have had someone tell you that you don't look sick? Also how many people have told you that you don't look like you need a disabled placard? I've actually had someone call the police on me because they tho I was using someone else's placard.

Others do not know what your body is feeling. If you need or have a handicap place card use it. It is not any one elses business. You don't have to explain to anyone.

Handicap Car Tags

Handicap Car Tags

So I am 20 years old and my mom breached the topic of handicap parking today with me. I feel like I shouldn't do it because I am well 20 for one. But also I don't get all of the swelling in my ankles and such as bad as most of y'all do. Sure my joints hurt but they don't usually swell to the point of not being able to walk. I am super sensitive to the UV though. Any small amount of time outside can really take the energy out of me. I end up napping for hours. So I would like honest opinions… read more

Regarding Lupus Flares

Regarding Lupus Flares

Has anyone here experienced one long continuous flare? For example, I was placed on permenent steroid treatment because, as my doctor explained, I have been in a continuous flare for the past few years. Is/Has anyone experienced this?

Disability And Handicap Tag

Disability And Handicap Tag

This is two questions but the same category....

1) I have several conditions that qualifies me for disability in Texas. I have been denied and now I have an attorney and I am waiting on a hearing date. Has anyone else had disability issues and how long did it take you to get it?

2) With lupus can you get a handicap tag for your car?

Chronic Hives

I have been experiencing for two months now chronic hives and rashes all over my torso. I have been placed on multiple steroid creams, non-drowsy antihistamines, 30mg prednisone ( which makes me very fatigued), anti-Inflamatories. Nothing helps not even the slightest. Intense itching and stinging, can’t sleep. Does anyone have experience or suggestions ?

Should We ALL Be Worried About Our Preexisting Condition?

Should We ALL Be Worried About Our Preexisting Condition?

I am currently insured under my husbands employer, but he was in the process of looking for another job before COVID hit.

Lupus is a preexisting condition obviously. Not trying to be political, but what are our options if insurance companies are able to start denying preexisting conditions again?

A bit worried...

SLE Lupus And Major Surgery

SLE Lupus And Major Surgery

Hoping to get as many responses..good or bad...from my fellow Lupus Warriors. I'm having major surgery this Thursday (September 1st)- hiatal hernia repair and the removal of my LapBand that has caused utter havoc for several years now (it has slipped and its 15 years old and is possibly causing the major infection running through my body for over 2 years). I've been tested by my Infectious disease doctor for every bacteria, mold, fungus, etc. Anyways, long story short, how did any of your major… read more
