Hi all any one of you ever had injections to make your hair grow back? I lost almost all of my hair due to thinning and balding. My hair has being growing back beautifully except there are some spots that just won't grow. I heard the injection works but it's expensive and when my lupus get really active again will the hair that grew from the injection fall out again?
90% of my beautiful hair fell out when I was only 18. It took me 20 years to get kind of a diagnosis, but we did Kenalog injections @ dermatologist and hair started growing back immediately! None of the re growth has fallen out and actually lots of new hair is still growing even though my last injections were about ten months ago. I've done enough research on hair and hair growth that I believe I deserve an honorary degree but, basically your immune system is attacking your cells in hair follicles and only subcutaneous /below the dermal layer corticosteroids/ Kenalog can reach where it needs to to reduce inflammation...and after a while, ideally, you can trick your body or get it used to not attacking those cells. There are lots of other helpful things but all in all you Have To Get injections and get ahead of the hair loss, and new hair will automatically grow the day the attack stops. Your follicles are probably not dead, just under immune attack. Please note: there are a LOT of Drs out there that will tell you there's no way or verrrry low chance of re growth. Or they'll tell you you already have it handled and your wig looks great, no need to look further. Please remember they honestly don't know the first thing about hair loss and less about re growth. Don't let them discourage you if it's important to you!!!!!!!!
I haven't tried the injections myself, like yourself I have contemplated them. A close friend of mine has done the injections and her does grow back and then she looses it all over again and yes it sometimes is where she had the injections. Unfortunately lupus is vicious and doesn't discriminate against who, how, and where it attacks.
Oh thanks for the info that's what I'm worried about makes no sense me doing it if it's going to fall out again and again. Maybe I should just stick to wigs as much as I hate them. Good thing though that the spots that refuses to grow back can be hidden by the hair above it once it grows fully.
Thank you so much!!! I haven't been on here in a long while!! Lots been going on and my hair even started to fill in; in the stubborn spots.
