I have been suffering from shingles for the second time the itch and discomfort it brings is unbearable. Today I asked my pharmacist what can I take , he said to take Zinc supplements he said it will boost my immune system. Does anyone take Zinc and also tell me about your remedies for dealing with shingles.

Please talk to your Dr. first. I have thought about doing something like that. I have not because I have not talked to my Dr. As we all know our immune systems are overactive and a lot of us are on immunesuppressive medicines. Basically we get sick easier because our immune systems is tired up doing what it should not be doing or the meds we are on lowers our immune system. This is how I have understood it. Do not count on what I have said talk to your Dr we are all different.

I take zinc and lysine, which help. It is important to talk to your doctor, if you trust your doctor, and it is true that no two people are alike. But those supplements do work for me. Shingles is awful, I know!. Feel better!

Zinc is good for healing wounds and aiding the immune system. Be mindful of taking zinc with certain medications. As for shingles, it is one of those things, along with your lupus, that you have to go with the flow. My recommendation is to treat for comfort when it comes to shingles.
