Plaquenil helps suppress our over active immune system. Helps to protect other organs like liver, kidneys, inflammation of lining of the heart. It helps joint pain some but without it the process couldn't progress faster. It is basically to slow the process of lupus down. Hope this helps. God bless all my warrior friends.

I have been on prednisone for a year ..I recently started having Alot of weight and getting stretch marks ..Dr is starting me on imuran and weaning off prednisone

I was never on Prednisone. I was put on Hydroxychloroquine and am still on it twice a day. Sounds like the Dr. knows what he is doing. You should be all right if you have been on both and are slowing decreasing it. Stay in touch with the Dr. is anything comes up that is different.

I have been taking Plaquinil for a year and some months. I had did some research on the medicine and what I have found out discourage me to stop taking the medicine. So I had stop taking the medicine for months until my rhe personnal called me and told me that my level was real low and that I needed to aleast take the medicine once a week. Well, Dang. I started back on the medicine instead of taking the medicine as prescribe twice a day; I take it once a day. I guess it does something. I really can not tell no difference but weigh gain; fatigue.
