ive been having some hand jerking or twitching especially if im trying to chop things or write. im just wondering if anyone else experiences this? its so annoying to constantly be dropping things or cutting myseld accidentally.
I totally agree. It probably isn't. I am sure it is nerve related.
I just give in to it. By dollar store plastic plates. Refuse to use my good china. Nothing glass in my house!
I Joke about how clumsy I am at work. Try to make everybody laugh.
I work as an union make up artist....so I am constantly looking for ways to secure/pack things so I don't drop them.....and break them.
Best just to make your life as safe as you can.
Hello! With myself I find my hands more so cramp up and can't move when I try to do small movement things as well such as writing or washing dishes. I haven't talked to my rheumatologist about it, but I did bring it up to my pcp and she said it is just apart of the lupus, so I would think that your twitching and jerking is just apart of the lupus as well.
Hello @A MyLupusTeam Member,
I just came back from a rheumy visit. I address my concerns about the nervous twitching in both hands. He said that should go away after stepping down the prednisone. Just another side affect to lupus. I exercise my hand when they become cramped. When it happen, I do something else, like watch tv for 30 minutes and finish what I was doing (writing Xmas cards). I hope this helps!
I do this and it is infuriating. It's as though my hand/eye coordination is off. I'm always spilling and/or dropping things. I was clumsy before but now I'm a walking disaster! I'm not sure the cause- for awhile I was only taking methotrexate and ibuprofen and it still persisted so in my case, at least, I don't think it's medicine related.
I am already on Lyrica. This is an old anti-seizure med. Largely now used for fibromyalgia.
It does help. I will have to check if I can take both at the same time.
