Is it normal when it's freezing cold outside for lips to turn gray/purpleish? My fingers and toes turn white if to cold but I came in from getting groceries and only out in it for long enough to walk from car to house, and when I looked in the mirror my lips were not the color they normally are. Even my 7yr old said something.

Clarification: Reynaud's phenomenon is a symptom ad Lupus (that fits your description above) and Reynaud's syndrome is a different diagnosis with its own set of problems. Definitely mention the episode to your rheumatologist.

Its Raynaud's Phenomenon.. The blood vessels in the hands and feet constrict in the cold.. Until you can get the right treatment for it keep hands and feet warm at all times.. I sometimes even wear gloves inside and I can no longer go with out socks... When they do start to turn white/blue/purple run under Luke warm water, be sure its not super hot water or you can burn yourself, and may not realize it..

Reynaud's Syndrome. I would see a PCP to be sure, though.
