I was on Imuran for about 8 years. At the time there was not warning about these drugs as there is now. In 2007 I was DX Non Hodgkin's Lumphyoma. It was format till 2012 and then it was found in my lungs. I had Chemo & have been in remission for going on 4 years. They tell me now what I have is CLL Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia. Not cureable but treatable. For that I am grateful. My biggest problem is infection, since my immune system is comprised for the Lupus ,CLL & Chemo. I take it one day at abtime.....No one in the medical field will tell me this was from the IMURAN but I am convinced it was. Pls ask your Dr.'s..Hope this helped.....Denise

I've been on Imuran generic since Aug. and I haven't noticed a difference but they told me it was protected my vital organs. I went off it 2 days ago due to elevated liver enzymes.

I can understand your concern. You are in a difficult situation. You should discuss this with your doctor. My concern is that if you don't take the Methotrexate, then your symptoms will get worse and you will not be able to work anymore.
When I was first diagnosed I was already suffering and was put on Prednisone for a short time to get my symptoms under control. A few months later I went in and out of the hospital 4 times. During those 2 months I had a heart attack, an ICD/Pacemaker implant and a total of almost 6 weeks in the hospital. The last time I almost didn't come out. This disease can cause so much havoc on our bodies. If Methotrexate can control the symptoms to prevent what I and many other people have experienced, I would have started taking it long before I did. I hope this helps you some way.

Hi Diane
I've never taken Imuran but I've been on Methotrexate for about a year. In the beginning I would have a day of nausea when I woke up in the morning but it wasn't the next morning after taking it. It usually happened a couple of days later. After a few months it disappeared. I find that it controls many of my symptoms. I've run out out a couple of times and went as long as five weeks without it and noticed how much worse I felt until I got back on it. It really does help

I've been on Methotrexate for several months. Have not had any issues with it, just don't like taking immune suppressants when I am working with the (sick) public all day. I've been a cashier most of my life and at my age with my new disabilities I don't think I am going to bother trying to find a different job.
