Has Having Lupus Caused You To Not Have Periods?

A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I haven't had a monthly period since a really bad flare that started in Jan of 2015. I feel better now but no periods still. Doctors cant figure out why. Has this happened to any women out there? What did they do for you? I am only 40 years old.

I had both the high dose steroids and cytoxen starting at age 12 throughout adolence. I have been in remission for the past 18 years and hadn't taken either of the drugs since adolescence but my periods never really returned to regular. In the other post I meant my tests show at age 43 I a not IN MENOPAUSE. They just can't explain it. In fact they told be I would never have kids because of the high doses of cytoxen but the LORD graced me anyway with a beautiful daughter who is almost 16 years old and healthy. Go figure. Somtimes I think they just don't know. If I can help you in any way please feel free to ask. Blessings.

I haven't had a period since i first started Plaquenil. Before I started taking it I was very regular. The doctor told me it wasn't the medicine but I don't believe it

I've had irregular periods for 5 years now. I am 42. Sometimes I'll go 5 mos. without having one. Really all you have to do is plan a beach trip and you'll start. Ha! That's been my case a few times. Just a little humor to lighten things up a bit. It's not that uncommon to be premenopausal at 40 or even younger. One thing that sucks about it is, I still get the symptoms whether I start or not. Hugs!

I got pneumonia November 2014. I was hospitalized for 6 days and out for another week after that. I was put on 3 different IV antibiotics and a couple of steroids. I have Never taken steroids before or after, but I've only had 1 menstrual cycle since. I am not even 30. I have one child. But I'm also having hot flashes and mood swings. Sometimes I don't even recognize myself. I think the 2 are related. I didn't even make the connection until I read your post. Thank you.

I understand RachelS. I don't mind not having one but cant figure out why not since I am too young for menopause.
