Which Dr is the one that should tell you what kind of lupus you have, what lupus is, how it will affect you etc? All my Rheumatologist said is its Lupus...just like my kidney Dr did. Still no clue about anything except I'm in pain & tired all the time and my bodies going to/thru Hell

I agree with TaylorHunt! I was just diagnosed in September with Systemic Lupus and my rheumy and Dermatologist diagnosed me. Usually is the Rheumatologist who does. My Dermatologist brought it to my attention first and sent me to have blood work done right there. It came out positive then he personally gave me the results and told me to seek a Rheumatologist to get further testing. The initial test is called a Antinuclear Antibody Test (ANA). Lab work alone cannot diagnose Lupus. The took urinalyses on me as well and other blood work and your symptoms you are experiencing will be taken. I was also sent to get a chest xray and an MRI on me knew that was bothering for months. All came back positive for Lupus. The chest Xray thankfully came out good. I have had to get blood work every couple of months since then to keep checking. I am on Plaquenil daily ( which is the common meds for Systemic Lupus). It has attacked my blood, skin, joints, nervous system to a degree. You really need to find a good specialist to see. I am not sure where you love but look up Lupus centers in your area or near by if you cant find a rheumatologist. They will have good ones there and the entire center is dedicated to Lupus!. I wish you luck. feel free to message me anytime. I know how you feel.

Thanks everyone. I will talk to Dr a lot more. He's very abrupt & quick when I see him. Twists & turns my 110 lb ass into a pretzel as if I had no pain at all. Feel rushed in & out all the time.

My dermatologist told me I had discoid lupus. Years ago I went to a rheumatologist and he said I had Sjogren's syndrome. I follow my dermatologist now only

@A MyLupusTeam Member I was diagnosed by my Primary Care Physician she's the one who walked me through. My other doctors just say you have Lupus. No real explaination of anything. I Thank God for my Primary Care Physician she's open about everything.
