I was showering and had shaved my legs etc... half through the shower I just gave out I thought I was going to pass out I started shaking my heart was beating double time and I couldn't take deep breaths. I'm sitting resting now and my chest hurts a little. Anyone experienced this or anything like it?

Have a back up plan to minimise a fall in the shower. For example hand rails to grip, a non slip mat and even a shower stall to sit on, if you feel faint. Inform someone you are in the shower, and have a back up plan to ring once you are out, so that someone will investigate if you don't call back. The bending down to shave legs suggests you were experiencing postural hypotension, your heart pounding and your desire to take deep breaths (try panting short breaths instead) was your cardio-vascular system trying to right you blood pressure. Chest hurting can be a physical symptom of anxiety. So scary for you. Manage this with common sense and practical solutions, so you are in control as best you can be. Hope this helps, regards, Margaret

It's crazy.but the hot water and bathing can cause you to over heat and cause you to sweat. After I shower I need to sit in front of the fan or AC to cool off,try taking cooler showers or shorten your time in the shower, try using hair removing lotion's so your not over doing it in the shower and the hair stays away longer then shaving it:)Hugs&Blessings.

Yes, just recently & my cardiologist said that its due to not having enough fluids in your system & being dehydrated. She recommended that I drink a bottle of water before bathing.

@MyLupusTeam users... I stand and put my leg up in a chair and shave at my bathroom sink. I was hot before I got in the shower and I keep my house pretty cold. So anyway because I was hot prior to getting in the shower I took a cold shower. It was just like the more I stood there trying to get it all done the weaker I became and then the nervous shakiness started and then the rapid heart beat and shortness of breath. My husband and son were here and since I never know how my shower will go now a days I wait to shower when someone's here.

I seriously doubt you were having an anxiety attack as anxiety lasts for about 10 to 15 minutes lying down or resting won't help an anxiety attack what you're describing doesn't sound anything like an anxiety attack and I would know cause I have anxiety pretty bad and I'm on anxiety medications, I experience the same thing you experience every now and then and I know for a fact that it has nothing to do with anxiety, when you're anxious you worry a lot and you can't sleepm I'm pretty sure this has to do with the lupus, every time I tell my doctor about the same thing @A MyLupusTeam Member is going through he states that I more than likely became fatigue cause i tried to overdo it, with lupus we know that we want to push ourselves to do the things we did before we were diagnosed with it but we can't we have to take it easy any little thing can make us feel fatigue or overheated, I love being in the sun and out and about however, with lupus we can't be in the sun constantly or for too long and we can't overdo it with physical activities either because we will become fatigue and have to quickly lie down once when this happened I was diagnosed with anaemia, I have anxiety medications and still experience the same symptoms, the lupus could be attacking your heart or as someone else said the medications can cause that as well, my best advice would be to let your doctor know about this so that you can possibly see a cardiologist as Ms. @A MyLupusTeam Member suggested don't just listen to others and write it off as anxiety when it could be something else only you know your body, Xanax isn't gonna solve this problem so please let your doctor know don't just assume you were having an anxiety attack and need anxiety medicine cause if it's your heart then being prescribed an anxiety medication would be pointless.
