I've been on the medrol pack 3 times in the past 2 yrs when the inflammation is very high, the medrol is a 6 day meds used to treat inflammation as your Dr see's the need, but not something to take like prednisone to treat a chronic illness.I pray you get some relief very soon,Hugs&Blessings.

Thanks @A MyLupusTeam Member, @A MyLupusTeam Member.
Steroids are the Devil's TicTacs. They are very beneficial to we Lupies, but have some nasty adverse side effects.

Moon Face! Yep, been there. Everything tastes soooo good. I exercised like crazy, chewed lots of gum, ate sunflower seeds, anything to get my mind off food.

The weight goes on slowly. It'll come off slowly. Be careful when you stop taking steroids. They're very hard to get off of. Slow and easy does it. Also, take lots of Vitamin D3 (5,000 to 10,000 IUs per day) and (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators) mg of calcium citrate every day. Osteoporosis prevention. We lupies are notoriously low on Vitamin D3. Be sure to have your doctor check your blood levels.

Be well,

Tom

Hi @A MyLupusTeam Member, that's a question for your rheumy to answer. It depends on how well you're responding to the methylpredninosol.

It comes as a tablet, solution for intramuscular injection or intravenous infusions. The daily dose varies with your weight and severity of your symptoms.

It's very similar to prednisone, commonly prescribed in the USA. Methylpredninosol is more popular among doctors in Europe.

Here's a good article from Johns Hopkins on corticosteroids that may help you.

Be well,

Tom
