My doctor is wanting to put me on Benlysta again. I am worried about the cost. We have insurance and I get the help from Benlysta company, but it still costs us a lot. We are barely getting by as is. Did anyone find that the Benlysta helped? I guess I never took it long enough to see any results. I do not want to add more bills unless it is worth the cost. Thank you ahead for you help.

I've only been diagnosed for 4 months so I've only had Plaquenil so far. It seems to be working since I haven't had any major flares.

Hi. Benlysta changed my life. I was basically bed ridden, couldnt stand more than 10 minutes, and debilitating joint pain. The first treatment I felt relief, by the second all my debilitating symptoms were gone. I have been on it since July of last year and have not had consistent joint pain as I once did. Of course I might get the occasional flare up but it goes away relatively quickly. I also exercise and eat well while on Benlysta. I have seen a difference and everyone around me has too. That lupus flu like feeling left with my second infusions. Due to benlysta being an IV I feel the quickly and its only an hour treatment. Downsides: finding a vein and insomnia at times because its a side effect. All that aside, its a great medicine! 😁

I was on Benlysta for about 6 months an I didn't feel like it helped, so I got off, my insurance was great an paid for it but I noticed it was 4000 a treatment. So no I rather not try it again.

Not everyone had positive results. I read from a person on this app that they had bad side effects. Search for benlysta in q&a section and see what more people say. If your doc wants you to try it it is a good sign that you might be a good candidate for this drug. My doc didnt want to give it to me when I asked because he thought it is too new and all side effects not lnown yet. I might ask him again to see if he changed his opinion...
