Had same thing Also allergic to Mexotrexate. Take CellCept now

I broke out in a rash taking generic Plaquenil. My doctor switched me over to the Brand Plaquenil and it worked great.

In 2000 I had a medical life threatening SLE Lupus flare !?I developed Shingles's throughout my intire body for eight months! The pain and itching was intolerable and it was worse at night even wth Atrax for itching, cortezone injections weekly, sleeping pills , plaquenil and several other meds ! Yes es the itching is the worse and hives !! It's not the medicine it's the Flare ! I'm so sorry and I will pray for you !! 🌹🙏🏻🦋

Started hydroxychloroquine (plaquenil generic) 4 months ago. Had colorless rash under the skin on both arms. Ice was the only thing that helped the crazy itching. Bought a case of portable ice packs. If u don't scratch, it doesn't get bad. But that was hard sometimes. Doc said it's not allergy - he said it's a side effect. I was going to suck it up but then my skin got photosensitive and my eyes, face, arms would swell. Anywhere exposed to the sun. I live in the south and it's February so summer would be unbearable. He took me off meds recently and itching is already better. I will probably always wear shades now and slather myself with sunblock. It was scary and upsetting. I'll start Benlysta soon. I just hope I handle those side effects better. Good luck to you!

) since them until now she was very nice and we had less problems on kidney eyes and liver. she was taking 200 mg per day and now tried double dose (new doctor) but thinks get worse . Now we are 1 step back to the old dose plus new medicine. Maybe plaqnil are the olny way to give up METHYLPREDNISOLONE. I hope next time hear good new from you
