I have awful purple, ugly bags during the days when I am most tired..well...exhausted. Do you? Muy face has been feeling so hot and tight across my nose and cheeks along with it but always goes away and never really bright. I can see it but it doesn't show up well on the camera. I don't know enough about the butterfly mask to know if it just suddenly appears or if it slowly grows. Just wondering if you have physical visual signs that go along with your flares.
Jackie Ma'am, for me: Any time that I go outside (no matter the temperature) during daylight hours I wear: Long-Sleeve shirt, long pants, an over-sized floppy hat, Sunscreen / Sunblock w/ SPF-100 or as high an SPF number that I can find on any possibly exposed skin. I have become a "Night-Owl" I β₯ being an out-doors kid all my life, I now just move from shade-tree to shade-tree for the last 13 yrs. I always wear & have worn sunglasses. β« I study nuclear science... The Future's So Bright... I gota' wear SHADES βͺ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qrriKcwvlY
My butterfly rash doesn't stay. I have it for a week or ten days. It comes and goes. Being out in the sun can bring it on. The sun is not our friend.
It's really none of my business to say this but, by what you said your doc. is saying it sounds like you need another Rheumatologist. That knows about lupus.
Yes I have them too. Nothing seems to get rid of them. I stay in when the sun is out, just popping out for a few minutes to hang out washing can cause a rash. I also get optical migraine from the sun, so it is important that I wear my sunglasses. I was given some make-up to use from the hospital, but it is too thick, but then it needs to be to hide the rash and is no good for the purple bags under my eyes!
The butterfly rash usually shows up with a flare. I have also gotten the rash when I was taking prednisone. I've had them appear overnight. This is what happens to me. I'm sure other people have had different reactions. They are hot on my face and I've taken a cold wash cloth on to cool it down. That's the problem with lupus people get things different. I'm not sure this helps but, I hope you get better soon. πππππΌππΌππΌ
Oh yes I have those purple bags under my eyes, I've never had them but since being diagnosed with lupus this has been a problem. I hate them it makes me look terrible, that horrible rash on my face gets bad when I'm flaring and being in the sun for only 5 minutes. I just stay in the house during the day and I come out when it's dark. I've become a prisoner in my house. It's very depressing.π¦π
