A lupie told me to use artificial tears 3x day. If I forget, my eyes get itchy and I'll put them in. Sometimes my eyes are still itchy. The eye doctor told me to get an allergy drop called ketotifin fumerate, it seems to help when the others don't.

I have Sjogrens syndrome, dry eye, KCS. Its common with Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis. You have to go to an ophthalmologist for treatment. It can cause ulcers on your cornea and can is itchy and painful. There are drops, Restasis that work really well. If you are on prednisone, get tested for glaucoma, which I developed from taking prednisone for about 7 years.

I have multi connective auto immune /lupus and one of the disorders is sjogren which the symptoms are dry mouth, and eyes besides other mucus membrane areas and ear canal being really dry (also have horrible tinnitus )
Mine were so bad that when I would wake up in the morning I could not open my eyes due to the horrible burning. My eye dr put tear duct plugs in and prescribed eye drops. So far things are much better except when my allergies are acting up. See your eye dr and he will tell you just how bad your dryness is. God Bless and hope things get better.

Could it be allergies from the summer pollen? Artificial tears may help - use obsessively.
