How do you all get past severe muscle pain (myalgia)?
I have stairs to the laundry room in my basement; which by the third trip, in between loads, I barely make it back upstairs at all
Vacuum and mopping does me in, I’ll be on a heating pad for days.
This doesn’t include daily things like cooking or bathing, grocery shopping etc ... Bathing is a whole separate issue with washing my hair!
Before all this I was a very active person and I’ve gained 60+ pounds and can’t be active enough… read more
Just today I ordered groceries online and then went to the store and they loaded them in my car. It was amazing. So doing this from now on. My legs were so achey today and the thought of walking miles in the grocery store is daunting. Maybe next time delivery!
I too was very active in the gym, but severe muscle pain ended that. I now swim and do yoga. The pool really helps with the pain.
I go through this daily. The doctors say working out helps with the pain but for me it makes worse. My feet to my calves swell up and I'm on a heating pad, ice pack and feet are propped up above chest level. I haven't found a way to get passed it yet also due to the fact that the rest of my bones are starting to get brittle. I suggest that you take it as easy as you can. Ask your doctor if they can give you a shower chair. It does help out a lot
I have muscle spasms and muscle pain really bad. My husband now has to take the laundry up and down the stairs. I literally cannot do it anymore. I used to be really active also. It’s very frustrating. Like you, I only shower, bathe or hot tub when my husband is home
because I have fallen. Water does seem to help!!! Hope you can find something that works for you soon. Maybe a muscle relaxer? I’m on Baclofen and it helps some.
Sorry you're going through such a rough time. It's not easy to go from being health to this. I don't have a swelling problem (at least not yet) I just hurt so bad for days I wonder if it's really worth it. But then I think if I don't I will end up with heart disease and diabetes, sometimes you just can't win!
I do have a shower chair from my knee surgery a couple years ago; I just hate trying to shave sitting.
