@A MyLupusTeam Member Taking something to help you get off is only for a short time. It is not good to stay on Prednisone for a long time. A doctor told my late husband when he was having shoulder surgery that taking Prednisone to long would turn your muscles in to mush. So you need to look at what Prednisone does to you for a long time to make a decision. Here are some sites you can look at to help you understand what happens when taking Prednisone to long. Long Term Prednisone Side Effects is Osteoporosis. That is the most common side effect if you take Prednisone for a long time.

This is a good one. https://www.side-effects-site.com/prednisone-si...

Just look at these and you might want to look up more. Just type in Long term effects of prednisone. Hope these help you and others see the long term effect of Prednisone.

Hi. So...I've been on 10mg prednisone for about 30yrs now. Dr.s have tried to taper me off through the years but I always flare. We are trying again right now. I managed to get to 8mg. I just left a message with my Doc. The side effects of 30yrs of prednisone have been brutal. Damned if I do, damned I'd I don't. That being said, I would never taper without my Dr.s knowledge and instruction. With your foot problems of late, I would definitely check in with your Doc before you do anything. Hope all goes well for you and that you heal quickly and without incident. My thoughts are with you for a quick, painfree recovery from all of this. Blessing to all! Hugs๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฆ‹

Hey baby girl, when your not in a flare is the best time. Your Dr should run some labs to check your inflammation markers. I've been on it for 5 yrs straight. Healing prayers,๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

Tapering your prednisone? What mg are you on now and for how long have you been on it? If you could do it VERY slowly like 1mg every 2 weeks you probably wouldnโ€™t feel it much. But remember youโ€™ve been dealing with pain for quite a while and most likely that will continue. Good luck โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ

@A MyLupusTeam Member I totally agree. I don't think people know the long term effects of Prednisone.
