I see people saying that your antidsDNA is suppose to be one number and not a ratio, but mine come back as ratios. My most recent one was 1:160. So what does it mean when it is a ratio?
Are you sure there wasn’t a mixup and they were giving you the result of your ANA instead? I ask since 1:160 is an expected result for ANA
I did a search and did see that dsDNA can be reported as a titer but it looks like it’s usually done overseas. They give 1:10 as an example of a dsDNA titer

Oh you're fine. It didn't sound snotty at all. I was just confused as to why my doctors office shows it as a ratio instead. It's kind of odd because I've seen it as a whole number.
I meant that the testing and the whole figuring out autoimmune conditions is very complex and that my explanation is my very limited answer of the whole thing. Didn't want to come off sounding snotty...
I have never seen them reported as a ratio - ANAs are reported as a ratio, but ds-DNA is reported as one number. Now how that test is actually performed - I have no idea.
The ratio is the number of times the sample is diluted and ds-DNA result is the number of antibodies found. Very simple explanation.
That's so weird. Mine are always ratios.
