I have been using Lexipro for years. I do find it very helpful especially for anxiety which leads to depression, which increases anxiety. It breaks that awful cycle for me. It helps my oldest son as well but he only uses it for 6 months then stops. If anxiety doesn't return he stays off of it.
I however, have learned that as long as I am stressed my anxiety never abates. Since my daughters suicide in 2009 I have not been able to stay anxiety free / medication free.
Also, it is the only psychiatric / mood drug I have ever used with zero side effects (except a dry mouth at first, then it went away).
I hope you have as much good luck using it as my son and I have. Hugs.
CBD oil is legal in 50 states and is the non THC component of cannabis. You can't get high from it but it has the other good properties. Yes it is a substitute for pills and is a natural replacement. It works for my son who has suffered with severe panic attacks for at least 20 of his 30 years. you can also use it on nose and mouth sores.
I take klonipin and Wellbutrin for panic attacks and if I get really depressed my psychiatrist will put me on a mood stabilizer or one of the newer antipsychotic medications. It is hard to get the right dose of any of these things and they all have side effects. Lexapro I have taken and it gave me these horrible night sweats beyond what you have from menopause. My clothes would be soaked and I had to change and I gained 15 pounds. And also I have learned all the different classes of drugs feel like they stigmatize you but go by that. I hope you have a good psychiatrist who is patient and will listen to you. I have had horrible panic attacks and depression over the years it is very painful and lonely. I am glad you are getting help but always speak up if you feel something has a side effect you can’t handle or you feel is dangerous. But really truly I understand your pain and I wish you luck on feeling better. You know yourself best and you know what you need.
@A MyLupusTeam Member Thank you It is about time i reached out for help once and for all <3
Unfortunately I had severe side affects to Lexapro. My husband has severe panic attacks. They started him on 20 mg of Paxil and then later on they upped it to 40 mg of Paxil. He takes it in the morning each day. Everyone is different but this worked for him. They tried him on Zoloft but he had bad side effects from it.
