Is it normal to have a Negative ANA, but a Positive ENA? What does an ENA test actually screen for? What does it mean to have a Positive SSB antibodies on an ENA test, but all of the other antibodies are Negative, but the actual ENA Test is Positive also? I'm so lost and confused. Doctors think I might have sjogrens, but they have not diagnosed me officially with it yet. I almost wish I was a doctor so I knew what was wrong with me, lol. I'm so impatient. :/
An ENA screen tests for multiple autoimmune disorders such as Sgrojen's Syndrome, (SSA/SSB), what was formerly known as Scleroderma, (Scl 70), Sm antibody (Smith antibody for Lupus), etc.
Your SSB is positive, however, your SSA is negative. Typically, SSB is elevated in the presence of SSA. Because your SSA is normal, it is difficult to make the diagnosis from lab tests.
Are you symptomatic? Dry eyes, dry mouth, fatigue?
Also, Sgrojen's can be a primary diagnosis, but most often occurs in conjunction with other autoimmune disorders, most notably, SLE, RA.
Hope this helps. It may take time & more symptoms for a more definitive diagnosis.
Could be that it's positive now. Sometimes it's just just positive during a flare. There isn't really an exact answer sometimes. Autoimmune is frustrating like that. Speak to your doctors, find one who is willing to explain things to you. I know it's tough. Hugs. Hang in there
They haven't given me another ANA as of recently this year. This one was from last year.
Here is my ANA. Sorry, for some reason my computer wouldn't let me upload 2 pictures to my status.
Your ANA isn't on here. Usually they dont order an ENA with a negative ANA. The ENA panel shows what antibodies are positive, sort of the expanded version of the ANA. Did they show you your ANA results?
