Please Tell Me About Your Experience With Physical Therapy.
My pain mngmt and orthopedic want me to go to pt, but I wonder🤔, because I was very strong with no pain or swelling one week before I became active with lupus. I feel like if lupus is what is causing my muscles to be weak (not to mention inflammation causing pain and weakness) and lupus is causing my fatigue (I also have sjogrens, fibromyalgia, and copd) then how do they expect me to gain strength by exercising if my lupus is still active? My rheumy agrees with me, he says first you have to put… read more
PT totally helped me! Some people it helps and some it doesn’t. I don’t think you should totally write the idea off. I didn’t really exercise, but did more yoga like poses to strengthen.
I went physical therapy road. They gave me enough exercises and stretches ,to do that helped me with my whole body. I am not as stiff and sore doing my mild routine. Dont get me wrong,I try to do every day. If I am doing a lot that day I try not to exercise . Swimming is good idea from @A MyLupusTeam Member .rest often.
Mix it up go for a walk or only do 3 x a week. Just start something. Hopefully you will find something that works for you. Its all good for stress and we need it. Hugs
Well my friend I have had lupus for about 3 years now!! And I understand why you’re going through!! The last thing you want to do is go pt when you’re hurting all over!! Taking warm 🛁 bath and relax seems more affective to me!! Remember only you know you pain! People can’t understand unless you live in it!!
Well 🙄 typed a really long response, then lost it. Love you all. 💝 And, btw, usually when someone begs you to email them rather than get to know you openly they're some kind of scammer, I could be wrong, but pls be careful.
Ask for aquatic therapy!!!!
I have lupus fibro sciatica osteoporosis in my knees shoulder hip and back I have 4 herniated disc 2 in my neck 2 in my lower back
I’ve learned that I have the same amount of pain when I lay in bed all day or if I’m up and moving around.
So I move around and take a lot of breaks.
My knees are totally gone trying some gel shots if that doesn’t work I’ll have to have total knee replacement in both my knees!!
The aquatic therapy and PT is what is keeping me walking.
I go 3 times a week from 1-2 hrs.
I also do regular PT every 3 months for about 4 weeks.
The therapists puts heat and stimulation on my back and helps me do stretches.
The very first thing my therapist told me is that your body is made for movement the more you don’t move the worst the pain will be because you are letting your muscles go weak.
I don’t know about you but I don’t plan on being in a wheel chair anytime soon!!!
I’m not giving in to any of this I’m gonna fight this Come hell or high water.
Yes some days my pain is very extreme but I have no choice but to deal with it because I’m allergic to pain meds NSAIDs and Prednisone.
