Has Anyone Made Dietary Changes Such As Giving Up White Food Or Becoming A Vegetarian? If So Did It Improve Your Health?
I've read a lot about the anti inflammatory diet and I'm wondering will it help improve my health? I'm curious if other people dealing with lupus have adopted this diet or did things like no processed or white food or becoming a vegetarian or vegan? If so did it improve the quality of your health by doing things like giving you more energy or less pain?
I eat well. Sugar and fast food definitely fuel flares for me. Changing my diet hasn't cured me. I did notice that once my body got used to healthy food, it acted out more severely when I ate unhealthy.
I was just going to ask this question. So glad you did! These are the things I tried: paleo diet gluten free, no processed food, no simple sugars, no dairy and no meat except lean chicken. Then I stopped eating meat all together. Gave up on eggs too. I was trying to see what would help when, so was playing with things over time. Maybe I felt better at times but nothing drastic. I ran out of things to eat. It came down to some fruit and salads and wild tuna. I was weak and my red blood cells went down. I went to naturopath and he wanted $7,000 to treat me with some hocus pocus stuff. No thanks! Some online programs ask just as much claiming they can "turn around" any autoimmune illness including lupus. No thanks. I am wondering if anyone was able to go into remission or really help themselves with diet and how did they do it?
I just watched a few videos on "Goodbye Lupus" by Dr Brooke Goldner. Plant based diet with lots of smoothies. She suffered from lupus since 14 yo. Developed stage 4 kidney failure, had stroke in medical school, was told she should not have children and was very sick. She reversed her lupus, healed her kidneys, had 2 children, and remaines in remission for many years because of this diet she created. I am willing to give this a try. Most of what I saw from her is free and easy to try.
I went to a full Keto diet. I found that it helps reduce inflammation which is my biggest problem. Mostly in my joints. When I go back to eating carbs for a period of time it brings on a flare leaving me struggling to even walk. Canβt say it would help everyone but for me it helps me reduce the amount of prednisone I have to take.
I've been a vegetarian before I was diagnosed with lupus... but I gave up on white food cause they cause inflammation like white rice, bread .. potatoes, my cardiologist help me out when it comes down to nutrition
