Your complements C3 and C4 are indicative of inflammation in lupus when they are LOWER than normal. Hope this helps a little bit!

My last ANA was negative also, I have been on disability since 2015, after being diagnosed with SLE Lupus in 2011! I am on plaquenil and my rheumatoid Dr wants to label it as RA now, but wants me to stay on the plaquenil! When I have a flare up and my hand cannot open up, I call and her response is “Your Last ANA was negative “, ok but I know what a Lupus flare does to me!! So disturbing at times, especially when the pain is so bad, I just sit and cry until I have had all I can handle then I go to ER for a strong pain shot and it helps!

I am ANA negative also but have a positive lupus skin biopsy plus most all the symptoms and other blood markers. It is frustrating as doctors don't want to give it a name without that one test being positive. They have me on methatrexate and are going to start me on Xeljanz. Apparently the docs are willing to treat it as SLE without actually calling it SLE.
