Does Anyone Suffers From Migraines?

A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Does anyone suffers from migraines? If so what do you recommend for the pain?. I've tried Extra strength Tylenol, Tylenol with codeine, Hydrocodone seems like nothing works. Benadryl seems to work but I just can't take it when I'm working because it makes me sleepy.

Same as the above answer. I take 100 mg of Topomax twice a day and Sumatriptan when needed. If I take the Sumatriptan, I'm not able to go to work, puts me out.

I see a neurologist. I am on Topamax daily. And then I take Sumatriptan for migraines as needed, and Gabapentin as needed for chronic headaches. The downside is that most headache/ migraine meds are also going to cause drowsiness according to my neurologist. The daily Topamax doesn't make me drowsy. It's a preventative medication.

Chronically. Especially during flares. Prescription medication did me no help other than this one years ago, but it causes heart problems, which nobody with lupus needs. My life saver was Excedrin, not tylenol. It uses a tylenol/aspirin/caffeine combo to treat the migraine.

Try Motrin as it does wonders for me whenever I get a bad headache

Good evening.
May I suggest you see a Neurologist. Some healthcare facilities also have Migraine or Headache Pain Centers.
There are numerous prescription migraine meds which will not cause drowsiness.
Also, it would prove very beneficial for you to have a comprehensive history, physical examination and diagnosis, patient education/self-care.
Praying for youπŸ™πŸΎ.
