Does anyone who has butterfly rash notice it feels really warm and it seems to flare up more at night? My face will feel like its on fire on my cheeks and nose especially at night and its not as bad when I wake up in the morning. Am I losing my mind or does others experience the same?

I just saw the dermatologist and she said normally she would run a blood test with this, but since we already know I have and autoimmune disorder and I have a rheumatologist that she is not going to run the blood test because it’s the same one she would run just less in-depth. She said usually what they give for this is plaquenil(which I’m already on) and that this usually means your Autoimmune disorder is not under control.( My dr. wanted me to start adding methotrexate injections before Covid but I was too scared to).She gave me a gel to put on only when it’s red, all that can be done is making sure your autoimmune condition is under control and you’re on enough medication for it. But usually when you get the Malar rash it Indicates More is going on in your body. Never knew that, thought I would share. I get my blood taken again tomorrow since three weeks ago my inflammatory markers are really high they want to test again. Wish me luck

I go through phases of that lately too and it’s always in the evening and it feels like it’s on fire and is bright red. I’m seeing a dermatologist who specializes in rheumatology skin issues next week to see what can be done

Mine used to come out like clock work, every night at 8pm. Feels like a sun burn, was put on plaquenil and its been helping a lot!

The same thing happens to me! I have been trying to keep a food diary of what I’m eating when it happens. It seems to happen often with nightshades eaten during my evening meal or when I have a glass of red wine.
