Mine is not bumpy, just beet red when I have flares. As I get better it goes away. It's almost like blushing from a high fever but with no fever. The redness itself is warm to touch though.

I get that as well, not raised or scaly and very warm to the touch. It’s almost always there, as either a light pink or deep red. Sunlight, even with sunscreen, will make it more noticeable. Seems to be connected to my symptoms, it’ll get darker red a day or so before a flare up of symptoms. Don’t let doctors tell you it’s rosacea! I’ve been through that crap, they had me first try an oral antibiotic that didn’t do anything except mess with my heartburn medicine. Then they had me try a topical steriod gel thag irritated and dried out my skin, but the rash stayed the whole time. I’m still struggling to get an official lupus diagnosis, and my dermatologist told me if my second opinion rheumatologist tells me there is nothing wrong and it’s just rosacea and joint aches then I’ll have to go back and do a skin biopsy.

Thank you! Yes, I notice that it does happen when I get overheated or when I'm very active.

Oh! My doc lead me to believe it had to be raised and constant, but mine comes and goes. And yes, itches and burns like sunburn! And my scalp burns and itches too. Constantly.
