Hello,

I have been diagnosed with Lupus and have been on prednisone since December. My inflammation shoots up too high without it and the fatigue becomes unbearable. It has given me my life back yet taken it in some ways. It gave me chipmunk cheeks. My face is so distorted that I avoid the mirror. There is a family wedding this summer and if the mask mandate is lifted, I am not going if I can't hide my cheeks behind a mask

Can anybody relate? Can you give advice?

Yes prednisone does have nasty side effects. I only goon it when I have no choice , and only for short spurts. Newer data says even low doses are not safe if they are very long term like some rheumatologist still prescribe😟

Get checked for osteoporosis (the bone thing) I developed it from high levels of prednisone, and its much more serious than moon face. And ditto what @A MyLupusTeam Member said. Get as dolled up as you can and enjoy yourself!!!! You'll be happy you did a few years from now.

Pay to have a good make up artist do some contouring on the cheeks. I had the moon face a couple times over the years. It is what happens when you must be on prednisone for awhile.
